Children's and Parents' Privacy Summary
This simplified policy is for participants aged 10 to 17, and their parents or legal guardians.
For simplicity, throughout this document, when we use the word "game," we are referring to both VR/AR games and applications (apps) that are being tested.
We will call adults that take care of you at home “parent(s),” whether they are parents or guardians. Whenever we say “parent,” we mean either—for simplicity of this document.
The companies that made the games you are testing are the Game Creators (our Clients). They are the ones who receive your testing data.
VR Oxygen helps game studios test their games. When you test a game, we collect special information to help game creators understand if their game is fun or frustrating. This policy explains what kinds of information we collect from you when you test a game with VR Oxygen, and how we use that information.
1. How Do We Collect This Information?
Information is collected in one of two ways, depending on the test. The specific method used will always be confirmed before you start the session.
Manual Collection:
You or your parent will be asked to manually record a video of the test session using an external camera or phone, following the detailed guides we provide.
Automatic Collection:
- This collection happens when the VR headset automatically records the test session using a special feature activated inside the game you are testing.
- Data (video, voice, and attention data, if supported by your headset) is recorded automatically by this feature.
- The headset's built-in cameras record your head/hand movements. If your headset supports it, it may also record where you focus your attention.
- The headset's microphone records your voice.
Shared Requirements for All Tests:
- Collection only happens when you are actively inside the game during a test session.
- Sometimes, a test may require recording using a built-in web camera, an external camera, or a mobile phone. The specific camera requirements will always be specified for that test session.
- Our process sends this data safely and securely to VR Oxygen.
2. What Information Do We Collect? (The Data)
We only collect data during a test session that your parent has agreed to.
3. How Do We Use Your Data?
A. Sharing with game creators (Our Clients)
- What they see: They get your full video, your voice, the attention & movement data, and the behavioral analysis.
- Anonymity: We take several steps to protect your identity:
- We strip the data of any direct identifiers (like names, ages, or gender) and link it only to a random Participant ID. The game creators do not see your personal registration data.
- Crucial Caveat (External Video): If the test required an external video (which shows your body, and potentially your face partially, as you wear a headset), the video itself contains your image (your face and body) and is a form of personal information. All clients are under strict Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) prohibiting them from attempting to identify participants, but your image is still visible to them in that specific video type.
- Technical Identifiers: When using certain invitations (like channel invitations), your or your parent's Meta email address and/or a display name may be visible for technical reasons.
- We strip the data of any direct identifiers (like names, ages, or gender) and link it only to a random Participant ID. The game creators do not see your personal registration data.
B. Improving Our Platform
- We use the anonymous data (without your name) from your test session to make our platform faster and more secure. We also use it to improve our smart computer programs (AI) so they are better at helping game creators design fun, less confusing games for everyone.
4. Your Rights & Your Parents’ Rights
Privacy is a team effort! While your parent or legal guardian is ultimately in charge of your data, you have control over your participation at all times.
A. Your Rights (The Child)
- The Right to Stop: If you feel uncomfortable, tired, or just want to stop, you can quit the test or remove your headset at any moment without penalty.
- Final Assent (Ages 13-17): Even after your parent gives permission, if you are 13 or older, we will ask you directly on your dashboard and/or your device screen for your final "Yes, I want to help" or "No, thanks" before your data is shared with game creators and our partners. This gives you the final say.
- The Right to Ask for Deletion: If you want us to delete your data and account, you just need to tell your parent, and they can send us the official request.
B. Your Parents' Rights
Your parent is in charge of your data and can ask us on your behalf to do the following:
- Access: Copy of all the data we have collected from your test.
- Delete or Withdraw: Delete all of your data, or withdraw consent for you to participate in future tests, at any time.
- Correct: Update any information we have that is incorrect.
- Send Data: Send a copy of your personal data to another service.
- Restrict: Temporarily or permanently stop processing or using your information for certain reasons.
5. How Do We Keep You and Your Information Safe?
We take the safety of your data very seriously.
- Secure Servers: Your data is kept safe on our secure servers, which are hosted by top cloud companies (like Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services).
- Limited Access: Only the VR Oxygen team members who absolutely need your data to review test reports or improve our AI are allowed to look at it.
- Third-Party Tools: We use other secure services (e.g., cloud hosting, third-party payment gateway) to help us run our platform. We make sure these partners are security superstars too. You can always ask your parents to review their privacy policies.
- Commitment to Privacy: We constantly review our security and privacy steps to make sure we stick to rules like COPPA and GDPRkids, which protect children’s information online.
Remember: Because you are a minor, your parent must provide permission. Furthermore, because we collect attention & movement data, this permission must be verifiable before you can ever start a test.
